Common Applications of PVC Liners

When trying to decide between Thermoform PVC fold and form pipe liners vs. cured in place pipe liners for your project, the number of options on the market can be overwhelming. While both types of liners are ideally used in trenchless repairs, they can also be used in other applications. Read on to learn about some of the common applications of PVC liners to help you make an informed decision.

Outdoor Applications

PVC liners generally have a longer lifespan when they are installed in a covered location. For instance, one of their most common outdoor applications is as pond liners where the water can cover them, helping them remain elastic and strong. They are also used for tank liners and septic tanks. Since plastic does not cause a chemical reaction with salt, they are ideal for brine tank liners and leach facilities.

Variable Condition Applications

PVC liners can also be used in applications where they may be partially covered and uncovered. They can be used for lining storm water holding basins and for the secondary containment of pools and farm waste. PVC liners contain mine tailings so that the effluent does not get into the groundwater. Thermoform PVC liners are a good choice for aquatic habitats such as fish farms because of their excellent properties.

Intensive Activity Applications

Landfills that see a lot of activity from heavy machinery will benefit from quality PVC liners. These can be installed in landfill liners and caps to improve to minimize the migration of toxic substances. Streams, channels, and canals should be lined with PVC as they hold fast-moving water.
